ATTENTION ALL KNITTERS, BAKERS, TAILORS AND CROCHETERS: Help Someone out for the Holidays.

I was walking through Van Nuys, California last night (not exactly a city you'd consider "wintery") freezing in what i thought was a decently warm coat when i walked past a man sleeping on the cement in front of a shop behind a shopping cart.  It kills me every time i see someone that has to sleep on the ground, no matter what circumstances got them there.  It made me want to do my small part at least for that night for him.  I buy food when i meet someone living on the street and am near someplace with food, but the ridiculous cold this time make me more concerned this time and gave me a few ideas.

I'm a crafty person, and i know crafty people, we create things all of the time, usually for our friends, but after you've made so many things for those already around you, why not make something for someone who really really needs it?   Yes, donating money to shelters and food banks is awesome, but if you don't have much extra spending money like me, you can still put your awesome crafty skills to good use.

I'm pledging to make at least 2 knit or crocheted items a month for at least the winter and spring for people without   homes.
I love baking, but don't do it as often as i'd like, but when i do bake, i usually make way too much, and i'm going to donate half of what i make that's easily packaged (i.e not messy pies, but more like cookies and bread) to a person on the street or a nearby shelter.

Please Please Please consider doing a great thing for your fellow man and woman; when you're in a crafty mood this holiday season, KNIT A SCARF OR HAT FOR SOMEONE LESS FORTUNATE.  You can keep them in your bag, or car and give them out to people as you pass them, or you can easily donate them to a shelter instead.  Post this as your status if you know some crafty people.    The same goes for baked goods, but, if you don't live somewhere where there are a LOT of people right out on the street like in Southern California; Royal Oak, Michigan; or Tempe, Arizona; just donate them to a shelter directly that will accept homemade items, so that they stay fresh.

Please comment below or email me if you are interested and i'll repost your message if you want me to.  You can email me pictures of what you've made to give away and i'll post pictures of what you and i make.  If you want credit, just give me what you want posted of your name and or general location, and if you'd prefer to remain anonymous email me a picture and mention you'd like to remain anonymous.   I'm starting a group on I'll be Posting soon and i hope you will too!  The groups is HERE on FACEBOOK also: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=220054082493

Flickr

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

I've taken the entire day to move the files on blogger to flickr and linked them.  No camera pics today, but tomorrow sounds good.
